Calidad: Affordable Printing & Ink Solutions in the Australian Market

Calidad is an Australian brand well known for providing budget-friendly alternative printer consumables - including compatible ink cartridges and value-packs for ink tanks - as well as related accessories. It positions itself as a lower-cost substitute to OEM (original equipment manufacturer) cartridges, aiming to offer savings without sacrificing too much quality, for home and small office users.

What Does Calidad Offer?

The core of Calidad’s product range is compatible and remanufactured ink cartridges for a wide variety of printer models from brands like Canon, HP, Epson, Brother, and others. They often sell multi-packs or high-yield ("XL") versions designed to lower the cost per page. Their product catalogue typically includes:

• Compatible ink cartridges (single-colour and combo packs)
• High-capacity (XL) replacements
• Ink tanks for specific models or refillable systems
• Accessory items such as installation instructions or chip-reset tools

Strengths & Common Concerns

Many users appreciate Calidad for its affordability. For routine printing tasks such as text documents, school assignments, or moderate photo printing, the cost savings can be significant compared to OEM cartridges. The company is also recognized for generally responsive customer service in Australia, particularly when products fail or are incompatible. Some reviews point out that Calidad sends replacements or offers support when issues arise, which boosts confidence among buyers.

Buying & Support Considerations in South Africa via ComX Computers

For customers in South Africa, Calidad products may be available through authorised resellers like ComX Computers, though stock and compatibility should be confirmed in advance. ComX Computers can offer delivery within the country, and collection options may also exist for buyers in neighbouring countries (e.g. Zimbabwe, Namibia, Mozambique). Warranty or returns would follow normal retail policies: the product needs to be returned to the original point of purchase. This is particularly important with compatible consumables, where many issues arise from compatibility, and refunds or replacements are handled by the retailer.

Tips for Getting the Best Results with Calidad Ink

If you decide to use Calidad (or any compatible brand), here are some suggestions to improve the chances of satisfactory performance:

• Check printer model and cartridge/chip compatibility exactly - even minor variants can affect recognition and fit.
• Handle chips carefully; sometimes gently cleaning contacts helps.
• Run print-head cleaning and alignment after installing the cartridge to ensure optimal output.
• Keep your OEM cartridges for comparison - sometimes mixed use reveals whether issues are with the printer or ink.
• Save purchase receipts and keep packaging - you may need these for warranty or returns if something goes wrong.

FAQ

Are Calidad cartridges safe for all printers?

Not always. Calidad supports many popular printer models, certain printers do not accept compatible cartridges due to chip recognition problems. Always verify that the cartridge is listed as compatible with your exact printer model.

The exact model is given in the product description on our website. Even if  OEM cartridges are interchangeable between models, Calidad are not interchangeable due the chip recognition technology being used.

How does print quality compare with OEM ink?

OEM ink is generally more consistent, especially for colour accuracy, photographic prints and longevity. Calidad works well for everyday documents and casual use, but for high-fidelity printing you may notice differences.

Will using Calidad ink void my printer warranty?

In many markets including South Africa, using third-party ink does not void a printer’s warranty - unless the ink causes damage. Enure that the ink cartridge fits correctly (which should be the case) and that is does not need to be forced into place (this may indicate that ink cartridge is not correct for the exact model of the printer, the ink cartridge is sold for exact models, you cannot use the ink in a different model of printer, even if OEM inks are interchangeable).

What should I do if a Calidad cartridge stops working or is not recognised?

Update your printer firmware. If the ink is still not recognized, please contact us immediately.
