Overview

The Cudy POE40 4-Port Gigabit PoE++ Extender provides a practical way to extend both network data and PoE power beyond the usual 100-metre Ethernet distance. It accepts a single 802.3bt, 802.3at or 802.3af PoE input through Port 5 and distributes the connection across four Gigabit PoE output ports. This makes it suitable for IP cameras, wireless access points, VoIP phones, access control readers and other powered network devices that need to be installed farther from the main network switch.

Description

The Cudy POE40 is designed for installations where one upstream PoE connection needs to supply multiple powered devices. Each of the four output ports can provide up to 30W, with a maximum distribution of either two 30W devices or four devices receiving up to 12.95W each. In standard mode, connected devices can operate over distances of up to 100 metres at Gigabit Ethernet speeds.

For longer cable runs, Extend mode increases the transmission distance to up to 250 metres using Cat 5e or better network cable. This mode is intended for extended installations where speed requirements are lower, with network speed limited to 10 Mbps. VLAN mode can also isolate the four downstream ports from each other, helping improve network separation and security.

The built-in PoE Watchdog adds another layer of reliability by monitoring connected devices and automatically restoring power when an unresponsive PoE client is detected. For larger installations, up to three Cudy POE40 units can be daisy-chained to achieve greater network reach.

Protection includes polarity protection, overvoltage protection, short-circuit protection and automatic voltage regulation. The unit also provides 6kV lightning and surge protection, 6kV ESD contact protection and 8kV ESD air protection.

The PoE Watchdog function continuously monitors connected devices and can automatically recover devices that stop responding, reducing the need for manual intervention.
