Wileyfox: Discontinued Smartphone Brand - Stock-Clearance Notice

Wileyfox was a British smartphone manufacturer founded in 2015, known for releasing devices that combined budget pricing with strong hardware. The brand launched with models like Swift, Storm, Spark and later the Swift 2 series, targeting buyers who wanted capable Android phones without premium-price tags.

History & Trajectory

Wileyfox gained early recognition for using CyanogenOS on its initial handsets and offering dual-SIM functionality, competitive cameras, and modern processors for the price. However, it faced challenges: operating costs, loss of CyanogenOS support, and financial difficulties culminated in entering administration (bankruptcy protection) in early 2018.  Subsequently, Wileyfox's assets and brand licensing were acquired by another manufacturer (STK) for sales, support, and possible future device development.

Current Status & Availability

Wileyfox has been discontinued as an active brand for new device development. It is no longer producing new models under its original independent structure. What remains available are older stock units, spare parts, and possibly remnant warranty/repair support - typically via original points of sale. ComX Computers may have limited stock of Wileyfox devices, sold while supplies last.

Support, Warranty & Licensing Details

Despite its administration, Wileyfox devices (especially the Swift 2 series) had some support maintained via the licensing agreement with STK. These included software updates (e.g. Android 8.1 for Swift 2 devices) and some warranty & after-sales service.

However, this support is constrained by stock availability, model, region, and original point-of-sale conditions. Repairs or replacement parts may be limited.

Buying from ComX Computers: What to Know

For buyers in South Africa considering Wileyfox through ComX Computers:

• Expect only legacy or clearance stock - newer models are no longer in active production.
• Warranty support is only valid through your original point of purchase; third-party or reseller warranties may be limited or non-existent.
• Check that spare parts (screens, batteries, covers) are still in stock in case of later need.
• Be aware that software updates may be rare or no longer maintained, depending on the specific model.

Alternatives & Recommendations

If you are looking for similar features (good value Android phones, solid hardware, dual SIM, etc.) but with ongoing support, you might consider alternatives from brands which continue active development and warranty / repair support. These alternate brands may offer comparable price points, better parts availability, and software update lifecycles that last longer.
